The Cancer Research UK Etape Caledonia returns to the idyllic village of Pitlochry, Highland Perthshire, on Sunday 9 May 2027.
Since 2007, Etape Caledonia has welcomed thousands of cyclists to the UK’s original closed-road sportive. This breathtaking event takes riders on a tour through the stunning landscapes of Highland Perthshire.
Choose from 40, 55 or 85 miles of unforgettable riding on fully closed roads. You’ll wind through tree-lined avenues, past shimmering lochs and cheering spectators, with the sound of bagpipes echoing through the hills. Take on the mighty Schiehallion if you're up for a challenge, and refuel at our well-stocked feed stations along the way.

With one major climb and plenty of sweeping Highland roads, the 40-mile route delivers a punchy, rewarding ride on closed roads. Ideal for cyclists building confidence or chasing a fast finish.
55 Miles
Elevation Gain: 1,166 m / 3,826 ft
Total Descent: -1,172 m / -3,846 ft
Route Type: Loop starting and finishing in Pitlochry
With two big climbs and a mix of fast descents and scenic lochside stretches, the 55-mile route offers a more challenging ride through Highland Perthshire. Perfect for riders ready to test their legs and soak up the views.
